January 2018 and the snow keeps falling

Well wow, what a start to the season!

We spent New Year in the UK and returned on New Year's Day to feet of snow! So much we had to dig our way into our house! (That's a first).

What followed though was not fun! Icy torrential rain, snow, sleet and even hail right up to 1850 in Courchevel! Whilst this was not enough to wash away the immense amount of snow we've had what it did do was put a nasty icy crust on top of all the lovely skiable snow making conditions awful lower down!

But then, joy of joy we had one of the biggest storms so far! You may have read about in the press. Whilst Val D'Isere was completely closed down, Meribel and the Three Valleys faired much better and after a day or so all was open although the avalanche risk remains between 3-5!

I went out yesterday for the fist time since the storm and I can't say how wonderful it was. There is so much snow, and some of the pistes are yet to be bashed making them challenging but most were offering up superb powder conditions.

The rest of this week is to be sunny so I shall be venturing out again soon and then we are due another storm next week offering more snow!

Meanwhile, back at La Niche we were fully booked over Christmas and New Year and have received wonderful reviews and 10/10 ratings on Booking.com.

We still have weeks available in January, a few in February and March so book in now to make sure you don't miss the best ski season so far in the largest ski resort in the world!

This was taken near St Martin
